A very special holiday cottage on the Isle of Skye...
The Anchorage is our family holiday home which we have owned and loved for over 20 years. It is a two-bedroom holiday cottage located right on the shore of Loch Alsh in Kyleakin on the east coast of the Isle of Skye.
With abundant wildlife, stunning mountains, wilderness beaches and the blissful peace of a Scottish island, The Anchorage provides a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of a busy life. You can literally throw a stone into the sea from any room in the house and the garden gate leads right on to the seashore - an ideal spot to spot wildlife, fish or Just sit and watch the yachts, naval vessels and fishing boats come and go. Opposite, is the Stevenson lighthouse-keeper’s cottage where author Gavin Maxwell (Ring of Bright Water) lived.
Kyleakin is perfectly situated on Skye, just a few minutes from the bridge and within easy reach of the many attractions of Skye. Although very peaceful, there is always something going on in the channel outside the house or the village fishing harbour nearby. Look out for otters, seals, dolphins, abundant sea-birds, fishing boats, yachts, ships and even the occasional submarine from the comfort of our special place.
The Anchorage has been extensively refurbished and includes Aga, underfloor heating, high-speed fibre optic broadband wi-fi, good mobile signal, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, solid fuel stove, Alexa, comfy beds and loads of interesting books.
The Anchorage comfortably sleeps four people in two double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite WC. Unfortunately, access may be difficult for wheelchair users due to steps and no children under 10 years of age please, due to dangerous rocks, toasty hot AGA and direct sea access. Strictly no-smokers or pets - the otters dislike both!
